Use the settings assigned to your mailbox rather than guessing the server name or using the client-portal login.
What to do
- In cPanel > Email Accounts, choose Connect Devices for the mailbox.
- Copy the recommended secure incoming and outgoing server settings into your email application. Use the full email address as the username.
- Use IMAP when you want mail synchronized across devices. Secure IMAP commonly uses port 993; secure SMTP may use 465 or 587 depending on the encryption mode shown by cPanel.
- Enable outgoing-server authentication and test sending and receiving. Check the displayed certificate hostname if the app reports a certificate error.
Good to know
Follow the exact encryption and port pairing shown for your service. Do not disable certificate validation to make a connection work.
